For more than 40 years, the Tillery name has been associated with top-notch oral surgery in Central Florida. Don E. Tillery, Jr., DMD, is a second-generation oral and maxillofacial surgeon with more than 20 years of professional experience.
Dr. Tillery earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University and a dental degree from the University of Florida. He then attended the University of Texas where he completed a 12 month residency in Anesthesiology before completing his Residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, arguably the premier Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency in the United States at the time. Upon completing his Residency, he returned to Winter Park to join his father in his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery group practice. While with the group, in addition to Dentoalveolar surgery and Anesthesiology, he was the group's primary Orthognathic, Facial Reconstructive and Temporomandibular Joint surgeon performing over a thousand such procedures.
In 1997, he left the group to pursue independent practice in Winter Park. His interests in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery expanded to include the use of Dental Implants and associated Grafting procedures to facilitate Dental Implant placement to rehabilitate patients who had lost their teeth and their function. The Team Approach employed by Dr. Tillery and his dental colleagues allows each team member to focus on their area of expertise to provide consistent optimal outcomes.
In addition to Wisdom Teeth, Dental Implants and Dentoalveolar surgery, Dr. Tillery continues to commit his professional attention to Orthognathic Surgery, Bone Grafting for Dental Implants. His professional interests include the promotion of safely administered outpatient anesthesia and conscious sedation for oral surgical procedures, and providing the indigent patient population of Central Florida access to dental care.
He is active in Organized Dentistry. Accordingly he has been elected by his Professional Colleagues and peers into Leadership positions in the dental Society of Greater Orlando, the Florida Society of Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons, and the Florida Dental Society of Anesthesiology.
In 2002, he was inducted into the American College of Dentists, an honor bestowed to less than 8% of the dentists in the United States. He was initially recognized in 2008 by his peers as one of the "Best Dentists in America" as published by Woodward/White, Inc. in Orlando Magazine and continues to hold the distinction. In 2009, he was awarded the "Best Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in Winter Park" by the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Tillery is a Fellow of the American College of Dentistry, The American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and The International College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.
A family man and native Floridian, Dr. Tillery practices in the same office his father built in 1965. Dr. Tillery strives to offer his patients a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere while delivering premier surgical services resulting in a positive, lasting impression. He prides himself on personal attention to his patients, making himself available at all times before, during and after surgical procedures. Dr. Tillery also recognizes the value of continuing education, regularly attending educational seminars and conferences throughout the year and ensuring that his staff has up-to-date training in the latest surgical advancements.
