Facial Surgery (Maxillofacial Surgery)
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a surgical specialty which involves both dental and medical surgical treatments. As an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. Tillery diagnoses and treats diseases, deformities, injuries and cosmetic defects of the facial and oral region.
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are considered the "orthopedic and reconstructive surgeons of the face." Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons complete an additional 4-6 years of intensive hospital-based residency training beyond the four years of general dental training.
As part of their specialty training, oral surgeons receive advanced training in anesthesia, head and neck surgery, plastic surgery, general surgery, trauma surgery, radiology, internal medicine, and emergency medicine. This training allows them to expertly provide a variety of surgery services related to the teeth, mouth, jaws, and face.
